Promised Post Pageant Donut

We stumbled upon Psycho Donuts on one of our morning walks a month or so ago. I loved how the outside was decorated. We didn’t go in but when I got home, I investigated a little further and decided that after the pageant, I was going to Psycho Donuts and have a donut.

This morning, in a radical departure from my normally ultra healthy diet, we indulged.  It was truly difficult to decide which one of these amazing donuts I wanted to try. I asked the man in front of me if I could take a photo of his box and he said, “Sure”.

After we ordered, he ordered 6 more! It really is a tough decision.

We decided on the Rocky Road (David) and the S’Mores (me)

They were served up by this very pleasant health care provider. ๐Ÿ™‚

We also had a cup of coffee. I had the dark roast which was excellent and David had the lighter roast.

Oh yum!!!!

We grabbed some napkins for the sticky deliciosity.

Sat at a cute table.

It was amazing. Afterwards, I was buzzed to the max, ready to walk another 1397 miles. David just wanted to sleep. ๐Ÿ™‚

Although it’s not in my usual repertoire of food choices, I’m glad we tried Psycho Donuts. It was awesome! ๐Ÿ˜€

Donuts!

Donuts are just one of those foods. You know. They’re not good for you but they taste SO good. Especially with chocolate milk. Also not good for you.

We decided to take the Glambaby for a donut this a.m. to a place call OK Country Donuts. They make donuts into shapes and Nikki had gotten some baseball donuts from them for Geoff for his birthday.

When we got there, the fun donuts were on the bottom shelf of the case, just at the Glambaby’s level. They had pigs and snakes. Well, how do you decide between them? Both so fun?

You don’t.

You get them both. And enjoy them both.

We love donuts!

What food does it for you? ๐Ÿ™‚

Carpe-ing the java @CoffeeCON2013 style

Yesterday, was CoffeeCON 2013 (@coffeecon2013) and it was amazing!

Before going to CoffeeCON, I was finally able to meet up with Ruthann (@RAWiesner) for breakfast. She took me to a place where they bring donuts to the table like they bring rolls or chips and salsa at other places.

How can you not love a place like that? I had an amazing frittata with spinach, bacon and tomatoes. Yum!

Then it was off to the event du jour: CoffeeCON!

Just opening the door you know was fabulous because you could smell all of the different coffee offerings.

When we got to CoffeeCON, we found my twitter friend, Debra (@debramariem).

Debra is terrific, too, and we had fun hanging out together, visiting the vendor booths, the classes and our other twitter friends,

Coffee NateCoffee Nate (@CoffeeNate) and Robert Caruso (@fondalo) who were bloggers at the conference.

One of the things I was most looking forward to was talking to the roasters. There were several different options there including a woman who was roasting beans with a heat gun (yes, like the one from Lowe’s) and a guy who had repurposed his hot air popcorn popper to roast coffee. He was very excited with his roaster and was cute to listen to.

There were two roasters, though, that had machines that seem like what I would use to roast coffee which I believe is the nextย frontierย for me.

We watched coffee demos and attended a couple of classes.

demo

I was really taken with the siphon coffee maker and think I’m going to have to have one of those. I was sad that we didn’t get to see the Turkish Coffee demo. She had some kind of a water issue but I did get the instructions for making the coffee so will be trying that at home soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

Right before I left, I thanked the show producer, Kevin Sinnot (@coffeekevin), for his fabulous event. He wanted to interview me because I had come from Oklahoma for the show. I did that and said my goodbyes.

It was such a great time. Great coffee, great people. I can’t wait to return next year and bring/meet more friends. Will you join me? ๐Ÿ™‚
