L is for Lowcountry Boneyard

Lowcountry Boneyard (Liz Talbot Mystery, #3)Lowcountry Boneyard by Susan M. Boyer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another fun read by Susan M. Boyer. I love the characters in this series. Liz is a smart private investigator who finds things the police can’t find.

This time, a young woman is missing and the police seem to have stopped looking for her. Her father hires Liz to do what she can to find his daughter. In the process, Liz finds a whole lot of intrigue in his wife’s family which eventually leads her to the killer.

There is a little friction between Liz and her partner/boyfriend Nate in this book but it turns out happy which is awesome. I love Colleen, her “spirit guardian”.

I loved this book and I can’t wait for the next one! 🙂

Book Review: The Burning

The Burning (Maeve Kerrigan, #1)The Burning by Jane Casey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I liked this book a lot after stumbling through the first part of it kind of lost. Once I got into the book, I couldn’t put it down.

I like Maeve and the depth of the other characters. The story was involved and interesting.

Maeve is a police detective on a team trying to solve the case of a serial murder. When a fifth girl is killed, in a similar but not quite the same fashion, Maeve starts looking for the real killer.

The search takes her back several years to an unsolved murder case at Oxford. The story has intricate twists and turns and is a complete page turner.

Two thumbs up for The Burning. I look forward to the next book in the series. 🙂

Book Review: That Touch of Ink

That Touch of Ink (Mad for Mod Mystery #2)That Touch of Ink by Diane Vallere
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really liked this book! It was a fun, fast read.

Madison is an interior decorator who designs mid-century modern and dresses like Doris Day. I loved her character. She received a $5,000 bill from an old boyfriend and that begin a story that was suspenseful, funny, and quick.

This is the second book in the Mad For Mod Mystery series and I’ve not read the first but I definitely will.

Two thumbs up! 🙂

Book Review: Double Dip

Double Dip (Davis Way Crime Caper #2)Double Dip by Gretchen Archer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a funny book and had me laughing out loud at times.

Davis Way is on the security team at a casino in Alabama. She’s also a dead ringer – and social stand in – for the casino owner’s wife which she gets paid for. As a member of the security team, she’s responsible for many different things, whatever the occasion calls for and it was a fast ride through the story.

Davis has a boyfriend and an ex ex husband named Eddie who gets in the way of their relationship.

This is the second book in the series and I haven’t read the first book but I definitely will! 🙂
