The Middle Ground by Zoe Whittall

Quick, easy read. The story was interesting, if a little unbelievable.
However, Missy loses her job, comes home to find her husband cheating on her with the neighbor, and is part of a robbery at a diner so who knows how you’d act under similar circumstances.
If you need a light read, this would be a good one.
A Little Bit of Grace by Phoebe Fox

I am a huge fan of Phoebe Fox’s books and I was really excited to read her latest.
The story started out slowly but then it kicked in and I loved it! Grace is an attorney in partnership with her ex-husband and lifelong friend. When Brian brings home a pregnant girlfriend, Grace loses it as she hasn’t been able to get past her failed marriage.
About that time she receives a postcard in the mail addressed to her recently passed mother signed “M”. Almost without thinking, Grace is on s plane to Florida to stay with her aunt Millie, a relative she never even knew existed.
This book has colorful characters and a great storyline and I remain one of Phoebe Fox’s biggest fans.
Surviving the Angel of Death: The Story of a Mengele Twin in Auschwitz by Eva Mozes Kor

This is a short but powerful book. Written by one of the twins who survived Auschwitz’s Angel of Death, Josef Mengele, Eva and her sister Miriam were 10 years old when they landed at the concentration camp.
Although the story is horrible, I’m glad it was told. History that’s forgotten is history that can be repeated and the horrors of Nazi concentration camps should never be repeated.
I was so impressed that the author was able to forgive the people who harmed her in order to heal her soul. That must have been so very hard. I highly recommend this book.
The Ketogenic Diet for Cancer: A Comprehensive Guide for Patients and Practitioners by Miriam Kalamian

As a person who believes in natural methods to cure disease, I was very interested to read Keto for Cancer. I have followed a ketogenic diet and have been very interested to note how it has helped people with many different medical issues.
I appreciate the author’s sharing of her son’s cancer diagnosis. She first used the ketogenic diet to help him when there were no other options for treatment. Although it didn’t ultimately cure him, it did slow the cancer enough to give him more time. She eventually went back to school to study nutrition and is now in private practice helping her patients through the use of the ketogenic diet.
The book was fascinating. The science behind why it works and how to use the diet are all outlined within.
This book is everything I hoped it would be and I highly recommend it.

Well, I’m disappointed that I just didn’t like this book at all. I kept reading because I love humorous stories and stories about social media but this book was depressing, the characters unlikeable. Two stars because I was able to read it quickly.
Prince in Disguise by Stephanie Kate Strohm

This was such a fun book and I loved it!
Dylan is the younger, gawkier sister of the beautiful Dusty, a former Miss Missouri. Dusty competes in a reality show and wins the heart of Ronan, a titled Scottish man. Dylan is not thrilled with living her life in the camera’s eye.
The wedding of Dusty and Ronan is another season of the show and they are all in Scottland where Dylan meets Jamie, one of Ronan’s good friends who will stand up for him. This is just the cutest story about how Dylan ends up with Jamie, who turns out to be an actual prince and how they will all live happily ever after.
The Boyfriend Swap by Meredith Schorr

I loved this book! It was so cute and made me laugh out loud in some spots.
Anne Marie is roommates with Robyn and her boss is Sidney. She invites Sidney to her wine party and during the course of their discussions, it comes up that neither Robyn nor Sidney want to take their boyfriends home for Christmas. Robyn is sure her family will give her a hard time because she’s dating an artist and not a professional man. Sidney is sure her lawyer father will not let her lawyer boyfriend alone. Enough wine and Sidney comes up with the idea for them to swap boyfriends for Christmas.
Sidney can’t stand Robyn’s boyfriend, Perry. She’s so competitive and he pushes all of her buttons. Robyn, on the other hand, finds out that Sidney’s boyfriend, Will, was the boy she crushed on all through high school.
Such a cute book. You won’t want to put it down!
The Dirty Book Club by Lisi Harrison

I am a big fan of Lisi Harrison’s YA series, The Clique, and was excited to be able to read her first foray into adult fiction.
Not disappointed! I loved this book. MJ is a New York gal who finds herself living in California with her boyfriend after her boss shares her big promotion with another employee. MJ wasn’t willing to share and decided to stop living on the opposite coast of her boyfriend.
He lives next door to Gloria whom MJ becomes friends with. Gloria and her three best friends have been part of a book club their whole lives. Once Gloria’s husband dies, they pass the baton on to four new girls, MJ being one. MJ wants the club to work badly because she hasn’t been able to make many friends in her new home.
This is a great story of friends and secrets and I highly recommend it!
Seagrass Sweets Cozy Mystery by Sandi Scott

This is a cute book that drew me in right away. It’s also the third in a series but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by not having read the first two.
Ashley and her friend, Patty, hope to have a food truck or restaurant one day. Until then, they share a tent at events. Patty cooks the main meal and Ashley bakes desserts. This book takes place at the Seagrass Days festival.
In a trip to look around the festival, Ashley buys a hemp collar for her dog, Dizzy. After that, she finds many fraudulent charges on her credit card and, shortly thereafter, the man who sold her the collar turns up dead.
This book has great characters, a fabulous dog, and many twists and turns to the plot. I loved it!
The Best Kind of People by Zoe Whittall

This book was SO good! Once I started reading it, I only put it down to sleep.
George is somewhat of a hero in his town for stopping a school shooter when his daughter was young. Years later he’s suddenly arrested and jailed under the assumption of attempted rape of girls he was chaperoning on an annual ski trip.
The story is good, showing the conflicts of his wife, son, and daughter through the process of his arrest and subsequent jailing.
This book will draw you in and keep you turning the pages until you’re finished. Highly recommend!
